Lullaby...

They didn't have you where I come from. Never knew the best was yet to come.

Life began when I saw your face, and I hear your laugh like a serenade.

How long do you want to be loved? Is forever enough? Cause I'm never, never giving you up.

Thanks Aura, for reminding me of this song.

5 months

Where is time going?

She is so, so funny lately.  She talks allll the time.  She laughs.  She has such a cute personality.  I can't get enough of her.

This is her singing today.  It is the funniest picture, ever.

Not much going on.  We went to a party at P's Aunt Jody and Uncle Tyler's house the other day.  It was a lot of fun to hang out with some ladies.  P had fun playing with Jody's niece, Kila.

These pictures are from yesterday but I had to share.

Mom group

Today P and I went and met our new Montgomery mom group!  We went to the Sci-Tech Museum.  It was fun but most of the exhibits were for older children.  That's alright though.  P had a lot of fun just watching the other kids.  When it was time go I put her back in her stroller/carseat and she was passed out before we even got outside.  Now that we met some of the members of the group we can go to lots of playdates!!  It will be good for her to be around other kids and good for me to around other adults!  I am excited.  There are a lot of fun playdates coming up in the next few months.  Can't Wait!

We think P's pink eye may be making a return.  This morning her eye was goopy again.  Ugh.  I hope it's not.  I gave her the eye ointment again just in case.  I'll do it for a couple more days just to make sure it's really gone.  That stuff is nasty.

P has been sort of a grump the last few days. I am not sure what is going on.  She also has picked up a new habit of blowing raspberries/spitting. HA HA  Here is a video.  She does it ALL the time now.  It's hilarious.  Even at 3am it makes me laugh!

She is talking so much more these days.  It cracks me up.  Dustin and I were trying so hard not to laugh while I was recording the next two videos.

Notice I put a bow in her hair to hold her hair down? Ha Ha.  Everyone always talks about her poor hair and how it sticks straight up.  Oh well, I think it's cute.  Oh and there is Tuck making an appearance in both of those videos.  They are best buds.

My little Easter bunny

I know Easter is still awhile away but I couldn't help myself.  I was planning on making P a tutu for her 6 month pictures but then I couldn't decide what color I wanted to make so I made two (and a bow!).  I was going to wait till her 5 months (next Sunday OMG) but I got anxious and decided to take some pictures today.  I didn't really edit these very much because P was being a needy girl today but whatever...
Her pink eye is gone.  We are just finishing up the eye ointment today.  She was such a trooper.  She wasn't really fussy when she had it.  Unfortunately, she's been sort of fussy this afternoon and evening.  We put her to bed an hour and a half or so ago and she's been up 3 times already screaming her head off.  We have stopped swaddling her so trying to get her to sleep is even harder than usual.  It is SO hard.  Most nights lately I just give up and bring her to bed with me.  It takes longer to get her to sleep than she actually sleeps and it is so frustrating.  I don't know how I even function.  Almost 5 months of no sleep.  Oh well.  I love her.  I just pray that she someday decides to sleep and that our next baby will LOVE to sleep like mommy.

Green Clothes, Pink Eye

How does a little baby get pink eye?  Good question.  Dr. Natalie said she could have touched something.  I'm thinking maybe I touched something and touched her but I am reallllllllly anal about ALWAYS sanitizing my hands before I touch her if we are out anywhere or I always wash my hands if their is a sink around.  Who knows.  Anyway the poor baby.  Yesterday I noticed a lot of gunk in her eye but it wasn't red.  I thought maybe it was a clogged duct and I called the Dr. to see what they had to say.  They said she was a little old for a clogged duct and to bring her in today.  This morning she woke up and it was very red.  I knew right away it was pink eye.  Dr. Natalie confirmed it and now she has some ointment I have to put on her.  That is really fun.
Not.

Oh yeah and she weighed 15lbs today!  Big mama!

Anyway here she is in some of her St. Patty's Day gear.
It's 65 degrees out today.  Yesterday we went for two walks and it was so nice to get out of the house.  We also sat outside for awhile and played with the puppies.  When she wakes up from her nap I think we will go for another walk!

Yesterday we played a lot, she is getting so big and strong.  She sits up pretty well supported.  Sometimes she will lean forward to grab something and get stuck though.  Yesterday she was laying in her crib talking and laughing at her mobile.  It was SO cute.

Notice her hair is starting to grow in!  No more receeding hair line!  Woo!

First Food

I made P some oatmeal and I think it was a huge hit.  Unfortunately it didn't help her stay asleep any longer than normal.  I guess I just wait it out.  Maybe she will sleep someday.  This video is pretty hilarious though.  Don't mind Dustin's sweet camera skills (Blair Witch Project headache) and don't mind me looking ultra sexy with no makeup and huge bags under my eyes.  Remember, I don't sleep.

1-4

My little baby.

Oops!

I haven't updated in awhile.  We have had a lot going on!  The weekend after we went on our first road trip to Michigan we ended up BACK in Michigan.  This time not really by choice.  My stepsister called me on Friday night and told me that my dad was in the hospital.  We packed up and headed back that night.  He went to the ER feeling dizzy I guess and they ended up finding a brain aneurysm.  They did a procedure on Monday to get rid of that nasty thing.  He is so lucky.  Someone was obviously watching over him.  Most people aren't as lucky as him and don't realize they have a brain aneurysm until it bursts and they end up all messed up.  Like Bret Michaels was!

Our trip there and back was good again, thank goodness.  It was nice to go, even though the circumstances were stressful.  My stepsisters, sister, and niece were able to meet Peyton.  I am so glad that we all get along now and it's not awkward.  I always used to feel SO out of place around them but not so much anymore.

Dustin left for California on Thursday and since then it's just been me and the P monster!  We have had a good time.  Friday we went shopping!  P actually slept most of the time which is really unusual.  I went to get my man eyebrows waxed and then we went to baby gap!  I had a code for $50 worth of stuff for $25!  I had a gift card we had received from our friend Jami, when P was born so I used that and got all sorts of stuff.  I bought her another adorable bathing suit (pic below).  It's 12-18 months but I think it will still fit this summer.  Her 6-12 month one fits her now (picture above).
We then went to buy buy baby to buy her a smaller stroller.  I really like her travel system and it is so nice to use with her car seat but omg its huge.  I can hardly fit anything else in the back of my jeep when its in there!  And we were talking about how it would have been nice to have it when we were home but theres no way that we could pack that along with all of our other crap.  We went on the search for a small lightweight stroller.  My friend Danielle told me about the city mini.  I wasn't sure I wanted to spend that much on a stroller since I already had one though.  I got to buy buy baby and started talking to the lady that worked there.  I asked her what her favorite stroller was and she said the city mini...of course.  I looked at like 100 strollers and finally decided to see what all the hype was about.  It was super awesome.  It folds down into a tiny little thing and only weighs about 15lbs.  And to fold it up you just pull one strap.  I fell in love with the stupid thing.  So I ended up getting it.  It was semi warm (for Illinois anyway) on Friday so we came home and put it together (which was super easy and even I could figure it out!) and went for a walk!

I ended up getting it in the stone color.  I liked the all black but I was afraid it would be SO hot in the summer.  So Danielle and I are going to look super cool walking our babies in their matching strollers when she comes to visit us this summer. HA HA.

Saturday we were heading over to my aunt and uncle's house for the day.  I've been a bad niece and  haven't been to visit them since after Christmas.  Oops.  She had a rough night on Friday and woke up bright and early around 5am.  I put her in bed with me and we were just laying there cuddling and she was talking and eating her hand.  All of a sudden she stuck her finger too far down her throat and found her gag reflux.  She gagged and I just laid there thinking that was it.  Nope, a split second later she started projectile vomiting all over me, herself, and the bed.  It looked like something out of The Exorcist.
Then of course she laid there smiling and laughing.  I had to get up and strip the bed and change her, clean myself up and then we tried to take a little nap.  We finally decided to get out of bed at like 9am and head over to uncle Tom's.

My cousin was giving a clinic to a bunch of 4H kids in the barn so I bundled P up and we went out to see the horses.  Her face was PRICELESS.  The horses were coming up to her and getting right in her face.  She reached out for a few of them and I let her touch one although I was scared they were going to eat her. HAHA.  Her little face just melts my heart.  Her eyes were so huge and she was just so focused on them like what in the world are these things?!  I can't wait till she is big enough to ride.  Uncle Tom said she will be big enough soon. I think we will wait a little longer. LOL  Some of my fondest memories of my childhood (and teen) years were spent at uncle Tom's house riding horses and helping around the barn.  I hope that P will be able to have those same memories someday (but not as soon as uncle tom wants haha).

P would NOT nap there yesterday.  My poor Aunt Loretta just loves P and loves holding her and loving her and P was such a grump from not napping.  She napped for maybe an hour overall and that was not enough.  Every time Aunt Loretta would hold her she'd start yelling.

So I am thinking about giving P some oatmeal.  I am having mixed feelings about this.  I really wanted to wait until she was 6 months old to feed her anything.  I feel like that is what is best and what pediatricians and lactation consultants have recommended to us (although her pedi said it was fine at 4 months if we wanted to).  But I am desperate for some sleep.  That sounds so selfish.  But this not sleeping is really starting to affect me.  I am worn out.  I don't feel like doing anything.  I've been having massive headaches almost every day.  Whoever said to 'sleep when she sleeps' must have had a maid, a cook, and an assistant.  I can't ever nap during the day.  I have so many other things to do (like blog!).  Who is going to cook, clean, and run errands?!  And everyone needs some "ME" time once in awhile to just veg out and watch t.v. or read.  Some people say feeding them some cereal at bedtime helps them sleep, some people say it doesn't help.  I am almost willing to try it.  Dustin wants to do it.  He thinks that she is a big girl and could eat food with no problem.  I am not so sure yet.  I don't want to feed her rice cereal because I feel like it's just a filler and has no real nutritional value.  I feel better about giving her oatmeal instead.  I guess if I only give her a tiny bit at bedtime it won't be so bad and if it doesn't help her sleep then I'll stop it.  I can still wait to give her fruits and veggies until she is 6  months old.  I don't know what to do.  Today I pulled out her Beaba Babycook and did the initial cleaning runs on it and washed everything after so it is all ready to go.  I pulled out some oats to make her oatmeal and it's just sitting here staring at me.  Dustin comes home today and we will discuss it and decide what to do.  My baby is growing up way too fast...
I think she is SO, SO, SO, pretty!

Here is her Easter outfit.  Notice the bunny on her shirt is shaped like a "P"

Our First Road Trip

We got brave and decided to try a road trip back to Michigan with the P monster.  She was SUCH a good girl.  She didn't cry at all on the way there.  She slept most of the time and when she was awake I was playing with her keeping her enertained.  It was a pretty good trip.  I was expecting total chaos and people annoying me but it wasn't that bad.  I managed to keep P somewhat on her schedule.  The first night we were there she slept 8 hours.  Sadly, the next few nights she didn't repeat that.  The only thing messed up was her nap schedule.  She had a hard time napping since we were visiting everyone and driving all over.  Hopefully I can get her day schedule back on track in the next few days.  Yesterday was our first full day home and she did not want to nap either.  We did all sorts of stuff while in Michigan.  Friday we got in and just hung around and played.  Saturday my mom and meme (my pops wasn't feeling well) came over to Dustin's parents house for lunch and to play with P.  Of course that is the time that P actually took a nap so they didn't get much time with her.  Sunday P had her first playdate with her friend Audrey.  It was SO much fun.  I don't think P really knew what to think and she was tired but she liked watching Audrey and Audrey liked watching her and touching her.  It was adorable.  Sunday night our friend Brian came over to meet P.  Monday we went to visit my dad and stepmom while Dustin had a meeting.  P was really into his fish tank!  It was so cute.  Sunday afternoon we went to visit my mom, her boy toy, meme, and poppy.  I love watching my grandparents with P.  It is so cute.  My grandma gave me a bunch of old blankets of  mine (and a couple that were my brothers).  Two of them my grandma ward made for me.  One my sister made when my brother was born and the rest were just random blankets of mine.  Things like that I just love and cherish.  I washed them all up and I am using them.  It is fun seeing P playing on a blanket that my grandma had once made for me.  I didn't know her that well but it makes me happy knowing she made them!  We went home on Tuesday and stopped at Tyler & Jody's and spent the afternoon with them.  That was fun!

While we were in Michigan P turned 4 months old!  I can't believe it.  She's such a big girl.  She ALMOST rolled from back to front while we were at my dad's house on Monday.  I keep saying any day now...but seriously, it has to be any day now!!  She also started giggling while we were there and last night she was giving me big ol' adorable laughs.  It was the cutest thing I have ever seen.

I reallllly need to catch up in her baby journal I have kept for her (since the day I found out I was pregnant).  I should have just typed it all up it's so much easier and faster and I am lazy. ha ha.  Maybe I'll do that today.  Not much else going on.  I found a mom group around here and I am going to a mom's night out with them on Saturday.  I have to go to one of their public events before I can join their play groups and whatnot in people's homes.  We are going to this indoor golf place.  I miss golfing.  I don't know how I am going to go this summer unless I can find someone to babysit P.  But I am not even sure if I am ready to leave her with anyone.  Maybe I can just strap her to my back.  Hopefully I like the girls in the group.  So many women are catty and annoying so I'm hoping for the best.  Tomorrow is storytime at the library again.  Last Friday we went before we left for Michigan.  I wasn't sure how P would like it but she LOVED it.  She was cooing at the lady telling stories and watching all the other kids.  It was supposed to be for 0-6 months or something but all the other kids were over a  year old.  Maybe tomorrow there will be some little ones!

Here are pics from our trip!
Reading before bed.

Here is P today, I don't know if she is teething or what.  She has been so fussy.  Not sleeping.  Drooling everywhere, chewing her fingers...so today I gave her a teether...She LOVED it.
The blanket she is laying on is the one my grandma made for me.
